View Full Version : Homemade walnut grips

Lately I've been working on converting a Spyder Mr-1 into a pistol, and as I've been wondering what some things are that I can do to it to make it look more unique, and of course, a pair of custom grips! So I whipped up these grips, they're made from solid walnut, and stained using teak oil.

It probably only took about one and a half hours to complete the project from start to finish, not including the time it takes for the stain to dry. Only tools I used were a Dremel, a table saw, 180 grit piece of hand sandpaper, a drill and the stain I used.

If your looking to make your own pair of grips, I used this website and found it really easy to follow, complete with list of tools you will need and step by step instructions. (If I can follow them you can too :P) : http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filnavn=/projects/wood_grips/index.htm

Enough talk, time for pictures :D

find a way to run this on 12g thru the gripframe, a single trigger frame and some kind of clip and thus would be INSANE

I believe that is the plan he was talking about with me on MSN.

Minus the single trigger frame, because they are a bugger to find for a spyder.

yeah, you shoud try it first with 12 grams to see if you can get ANY kind of efficiancy from it cause from memory(kinda fuzzy since it has been a while) spyders are horrible on efficiancy

Nicest MR1 i have seen, needs a single trigger tho..

I think that a spyder gets something like 25 shots per 12g. Also, I believe that there might be a single trigger frame in at Banshee, its DYE though, so I would make him feel bad about cutting it up just to route a 12g through it.

def worth it tho imo

I agree that it would be nice to have a single trigger, but I'm trying to keep this project on a smaller scale, I don't want to dig myself into a hole that's too deep and end up not finishing it, I've been known to do that :? . As for the 12 grams, yes, I am planning on putting a quick change inside the grip and also plan on putting a homemade springfeed on the top. The feedback is appreciated :)

if yu could find a front sight to attach to the barrel that even resembled a Luger sight....it would be pure win

how did you get it to take 12 grams?

Dave
04-16-2009, 03:06 PM
Doesn't take 12 grams yet (not finished it yet) but to get it to take 12 grams, I'll be using whats called a 12 gram quick change ( http://www.bansheepaintball.com/index.php?productID=142 ) it basicly just threads into your ASA and allows the use of 12 grams.

As a matter a fact Jhiltz I have been thinking of doing a run of walnut 45 grips, and along with showing them off, this was somewhat of a feeler to see what peoples reactions were towards my work. If your interested in a pair, PM me :)

Dremel + spyder grip frame + phantom mini macro and fitting + retapping the body = gas thru trigger frame, 12 gram in trigger frame.

If i had the resources i would attempt it.
